A modular system
After researching the current state of playground design the topic seems more and more interesting. Obviously there are movements to change the way playgrounds are built. For example the most interesting playground prop is actually is sand and water: It supports the kids' fantasy and their free play. Also there is the concept of adventure playgrounds, in which kids are inspired to build and create things themselves, with mobile, modular, flexible material like wood, clay, etc. instead of the quite static and pretty restrained possibilities the "normal" playgroud props offer.
So the original assumption, that an extension through digital media would narrow the possibilities of free play, probably is wrong: If the system creates a large enough possibility space and works with flexibility it really could be an enhancement, for kids as well as for adults.
This leads to a shift in focus into the direction of a modular, virulent system, which can be installed in different scales: The scalability concerns both the input (number of playground props) as well as the output (audio output works in daytime, visual output (projector) takes more time to set up).
